Okavango Skyline

Okavango Skyline

One of the things that impressed me the most about Africa was the size of the sky. Unlike home where buildings, telephone poles, and aircraft are ever-present, the Okavango Delta is pure and pristine, and the sky is huge beyond words.

This image was taken at sunset amidst a huge plain. The tree was atop a small ridge, and the colors in the sky ran from deep red through to what was the encompassing darkness. We had the good fortune to be able to just sit and enjoy the sunset over the course of an hour or so, where day evolved into twilight.

All of the colors of this image are not retouched -- the sunset was just that beautiful.
